Oooops

I know……I have seriously neglected my blog since February, no post in March or April, things just seem to have been a little hectic, not too hectic for crochet though.

So what have I been up to? I’ve got loads of finished objects! So first of all since I last posted I started and finished the wrapped in diamonds shawl by Toruń crochet, I was really pleased with the finish, out of all of my whirls this is my first fully completed item!

It was a bit hard to try and get a full picture of it but it’s a fab pattern and I’m sure I’ll make more, in fact, I did buy some more, not whirls but cotton king cakes from hobbi yarns

How gorgeous are these?! They were such a bargain too £11 I think? Sometimes they have some cracking deals on so well worth having a nosey at their website Hobbi yarns

I’ve also finished some Amigurumis!

I’m reallh enjoying Amigurumi at the moment, but there are so many things I want to make!

I’ve started so many other wips, but I’m really trying to work my way through.

Anyway!! At the end of March I took my husband away for a week, our first holiday without our kids who are now 18 & 15, it was his 50th birthday and I booked us a cruise sailing from Southampton to Rotterdam, Where we then got a coach to……..Amsterdam!!! And guess where I went?!!!!

That’s my hubby, we went to Stephen & Penelope’s fine yarns!!!! I have been itching to go! Of course we were too early and it was shut but we only had to wait an hour or so, oh Lordy!!!!! I’m tight fisted when it comes to yarn, I had until then only ever bought one skein of hand dyed yarn, this shop is full of it!!!! I spent €177 which I didn’t think was too bad, I bought 1 for @lyndascraftroom with a wip bag, and 2 for Amanda Bloom as it was her birthday so I haven’t got pics of those but here’s my treat

The shop is well worth a visit but you’ll need plenty of money!!! We then sailed to Bruge and guernsey and it was a fab holiday!

Then just a week later we had the April Crochet Sanctuary we were so excited! We had decided that with it being spring we would have a spring theme, we also had Alison Holloway as our guest designer, Alison is the momma of Mabel bunny, she’s a brilliant designer, when she went through the pattern for April I had a little cry! Purely because of the effort she had put into it. On the Friday evening we had Hoooked bags! I was a little unsure initially as I had only used T-shirt yarn at another retreat I went to, and the pattern we were given was using a 7mm hook, I just remember being in agony of trying to crochet with a 7mm hook, anyway lynda and I got our delivery and decided that really we should test the pattern, we’ll I absolutely loved the yarn!!! Ad it’s a lot easier using the recommended 12mm hook, I loved the pattern too! And it went down a real treat!

Everyone really enjoyed it. And most got them finished that weekend.

On the Saturday our guests crocheted our honeycomb hook roll which is available on our Etsy shop!

We used scheepjes stonewashed and catona, cute isn’t it!! And check out the bee!!!

Then in the afternoon we started Alison’s pattern……Lottie the ladybird!

I really enjoyed making Lottie, her wings move too!!! She’s available to buy from Alison’s Etsy page (I’m struggling to add a link sorry)

I’ve got too much to post here! So I’m missing out a few finished objects! Anyway! I finally used up all of my willow and lark woodland yarn I bought 20 balls from little box of crochet Etsy page as they were too good to resist. I used some for my mums sweater at Christmas, and the rest I used for Eleven handmades rye bread cardigan, it was the perfect yarn for it

Ooooooh lynda bought me a bag!!! I mustn’t forget that, thank you lynda!

We were then planning for our May Crochet Sanctuary which we wanted to Keep with the spring theme. Our May sanctuary was just for one day and it was great! Our guests crocheted matching ‘bee happy’ pin cushions and a scissor pouch, we even gave them the scissors

And keeping in theme we crocheted hoooked baskets too!

And!!!!! Go me!!!! Remember last year for @lyndascraftroom birthday?! I started nameless by Helen shrimpton and as per usual I realised I’d bitten off more than I can chew? Well I finally finished it!!!

Those last 7 rounds almost ruined me

We also released our 2020 dates!!! We have some phenomenal designers lined up, even one flying in from Amsterdam, and I hate to say it, well actually I don’t I love it!! Ha!! But we’ve only got 6 day places left for the whole of 2020, February, June, September and November/December have gone! We’ve got quite a few crochet days left, but only 6 spaces for April, crikey, I never thought I’d be typing this! So if you fancy a day or weekend it’s www.crochetsanctuary.co.uk then click book now to see what we have.

Our June weekend is coming up from 7th June, and wow it’s probably the most yarn filled weekend we’ve had, I’m so excited!!

Well I think that’s almost it for now! I’m going to try and post a little more often from now on.

Happy hooking!!!

High five 🙌

To @lyndascraftroom and mwahhhh!! We’re slightly buzzing, ever so slightly. It’s funny when we design something, it doesn’t matter how much we’ve tested the pattern, at the back of our minds we always worry we’ve missed a mistake, especially with this months little Box of crochet!

But it’s out, some people are still receiving them, some have finished which is a relief as we know there never was any errors phew!

Yayyyyy!!!! We’re so pleased with it ♥️♥️♥️ you might still be able to get one from Little Box of crochet

I’ve been working on a wrap for our holiday at the end of March

It’s Helen shrimptons free bubblegum shawl pattern, nice easy tv crochet.

No other exciting news from me because it’s exciting enough!

Happy hooking!!

Birthday weekend🦄🦄🦄

Well it’s been a whole year, a year today actually! That @lyndascraftroom and I held our very first Crochet Sanctuary it’s been an absolute blast! We’ve met so many amazing people. So our theme for the weekend was birthdays, cupcakes, unicorns, unicorn colours, piñatas, pass the parcel, and cake, way too much cake!

We started off our evening with everyone arriving including our guest designer Lottie & Albert, who’s podcast I watch regularly, it’s so odd meeting someone that you watch when they’ve never met you before!

Our room looked beautiful!! So we had 18 weekenders and 8 crochet day guests for the Saturday, so 26 of us in total. We started the evening off by giving all of our guests miffy slipper kits from Stitch and Story the yarn in the kits are absolutely beautiful, including a lovely bamboo hook and some lovely little cotton labels, they would of been perfect had the pattern included had been a little easier to read, it was a little oddly written and took a lot of concentration, which I struggled with, however we do have one person that finished them!

They’re so cute, but I think I personally need a quiet room to concentrate for these ones. Photo credit Sharon Meakin! Well done Sharon!

We also had Amanda from Little Box of Crochet so very kindly donate one of her Learn to crochet boxes ohhhhh my!!!!! I wish these were around when I was learning, they’re stunning, and she donated one for us to use as a pass the parcel and the lovely Alison Bailey won!

Just look what’s included!

Anyway, we had a lovely evening, albeit late, as once everyone had gone we then set up for our unicorn party the next morning

Oh the fun!! Although not so much fun when the balloons tangle!!!

A good friend would of helped……😂

For our workshop in the morning Lynda and I had designed some cupcake pin cushions, one with a great big cream swirl and unicorn, we also had unicorn marshmallows on sticks

Don’t laugh at my sleepy eyes!!!!

But if people didn’t fancy using them as pincushions they had some head bands too, to make a head band

After lunch we moved onto Lindsey from Lottie and Albert Lindsey had provided us all with her rainbow blanket pattern and heart belly basket, the project is created by working 6 strands of dk yarn at the same time, using a 20mm hook, winding the yarn into large balls was a laugh!

It works up so quickly! And it’s so soft, so even if you wanted to use a cheaper yarn because it’s in a larger hook and it’s so airy even a cheaper yarn is so soft!

We used scheepjes colour crafter in pastels

Throughout the day we had pass the parcel games and our guests won things like toft kits, sweets and Amanda Blooms ‘the story so far’ book 😍😍

Sunday is always a chill out day, where we finish projects from the weekend, even though we themed the weekend as our first birthday it was more to give us ideas to base the weekend on, but people actually brought us gifts 🙈🙈 we’ve had chocolates, candles and cards! Oh no!!! That really wasn’t the intention, but check out this amazing gift!!!

Mini skeins of hand dyed yarn in a mug!!!! Like 😱😱😱 how amazing!!!

Anyway, we really couldn’t of had our 1st birthday if people didn’t actually book with us, so we bought our guests a gift to say a massive thank you to them

And we were lucky enough to have the author of the book there to sign it too!

It’s been an absolute laugh, and what more can you want than a comfy room filled with lovely people, yarn and cake?!

Here’s a few more pics

I think that’s all for now, until next time happy hooking!!!

Happy New Year!

Happy new year everyone! I hope 2018 was a good one for you, I’ve spent some time looking back and it was a good one for me for sure. 2018 was the start of The Crochet Sanctuary which initially started as 1 weekend in February and quickly grew to 5 weekends and a crochet day, and everyone of them was fabulous, which is a real confidence boost, we also had The Water Garden CAL with Knitcraft published in spring and the Falling Leaves CAL in Autumn,

we’ve ran workshops for Amanda Blooms Little Box of Crochet grand sale and met some amazing new friends, it’s all been good on the home front too!

I’ve finished so many projects I’ve lost count! The pics are all on my Instagram account though, should I ever feel the need to look back!

Oooh and I had my very own pattern published on the Hobbycraft blog! I almost forgot about that! Hot water bottle cover

It’s been fun!

So 2019, there’s lots to look forward to, February we have our very own 1st Birthday weekend, and we are so excited! We have so many amazing things planned including a guest deigned workshop by Lottie & Albert, I’m slightly worried as I’ve turned into a bit of a fan girl 🙈 her YouTube podcast is brilliant to sit and watch whilst crocheting, you should give it a go!

We’ve then got the March crochet day, which will be almost a duplicate of what we do on the February weekend, we do still have some March crochet day places left if anyone fancies booking Click here then, we have something mega exciting happening towards the end of February, something I never thought or even dreamt that would happen! But it’s all a big secret at the moment!

Mr H turns 50 in April! And I’ve booked us a cruise for a week to celebrate, our first ever holiday since our honeymoon almost 19 years ago, scary, but exciting, then there’s the April Crochet Sanctuary oh the list goes on, how exciting!!

I’ve had a good Christmas and new year break from work, albeit 2 funerals inbetween, but I’ve managed quite a bit of crochet time!

I picked up this absolute bargain from Blacksheep wools! This is the scheepjes spirit of life CAL from 2017, and online its £47.50, in store the other day it was only £24.99!!!! I could not resist! I’ve finished part 1, but here’s a picture of it almost toward the end of part 1

I wasn’t keen on the colours together at first and had to keep checking the pattern, but I can see it’s starting to work!

I also had a brilliant bargain in Hobbycraft on Saturday some WI soft and smooth aran tweed in blue, usually £10 a ball down to £5! so decided to make myself the Eleven hand made Gorse sweater from inside crochet mag

The yarn is gorgeous just lovely to use, but, I think I’ve gone a little wrong somewhere as the arms aren’t quite lining up with each other now, I wouldn’t mind but the pattern is very simple, so clearly I’ve not been concentrating!

I’ve also treated myself to some twirls! From Hobbii they’re literally £7.80 each! For 1000 metres so at that price I thought it’d be worth a try, I’ve read some reviews which look great! These are the colours I’ve gone for

So we will see what they’re like! So, the next few weeks will be finalising designs for the February Crochet Sanctuary, I’ve also got a bit of pattern testing to do for another designer, I’m just waiting on my yarn to arrive, I’ve had a peak at the designs and they look AMAZING!

But, hey ho, back to the grindstone tomorrow, back to work, needs must!

Wishing you all a happy 2019 and thanks for taking the time to read throughout 2018!

Happy Hooking Lisa xx

Not so weekly update

It’s been busy! We’re now on week 3 of the Knitcraft falling leaves crochet along, and it’s going really well!

We’ve been busy finalising and re-testing designs for the Christmas Crochet Sanctuary which is mega exciting! We literally cannot wait to see people’s faces, so exciting!! We’ve gone a little all out for Christmas, but you’ve got to really, we’ve also been finalising designs for our 1 day special on 1st December AND! On 2nd December too! Because can you believe this?! Amanda bloom from Little Box of Crochet asked @lyndascraftroom and I to host a workshop for her grand sale!

I mean, remember when I attended a retreat and she was there and I got all giddy and star struck?!?! Now!! We’re hosting workshops for her?! Unbelievable really ha! Anyway there are a couple of places left, it’s £5 to get in and the proceeds got to brain tumour charity, it’s £15 to get in if you want to do either the morning or afternoon workshop, and we’ve got a cracking project for each one planned! Blacksheep wools have kindly donated oke gift bags for us for the day and some mini catonas to pop in the bags, which was so kind of them, they’re so local to lynda and I so it’s nice that local businesses support each other.

Anyway I love it once we’ve finished designing a CAL because I can get back to crocheting what I fancy, I’ve finally managed to catch up with ubunto! I’ve been a little bit hooked, but I am going to have to frog back a few rows as my stitch count isn’t quite right so nee to figure out where I’ve gone wrong. I went for the ubunto small and I’ve regretted it since, I do love it but I do wish I’d gone for the medium or large

It was due to cost originally as there was a big jump in price from small to medium, but I think I might do medium now too and small can go on the sofas at the sanctuary.

As our Christmas Sanctuary is only next week I’ve started a sweater!! A Christmas sweater, it’s deigned by Eleven handmade and it’s the Golden Rod sweater

It’s an odd hook and yarn weight (to me) its a sock weight yarn requires and a 4.5mm hook, so I’m on the chunky side and to be safe I want to make sure it’s going to fit me! So I’ve gone for a dk weight on the recommended hook size, and it’s coming up lovely! I do love a puff stitch anyway, the sleeves are added on lastly but! You could leave them as is and crochet in a cotton and have it a a summer top, it such a versatile pattern. I’ve decided to make one for my mum, so I’ve bought some baby drops alpaca silk yarn in wheat, although I didn’t realise the wheat would have a yellowish tinge to it, I’m gonna go with it as I’m sure my mum will love it.

Also it was my birthday yesterday and it just so happened to fall on a Knitcraft social day! I was thoroughly spoilt rotten embarrassingly, but wow! I’ve never hand so many birthday cards, even when I was little, and handmade ones at that, so many gifts of candles, gin, yarn, flowers, chocolate a beautiful poppy bracelet and Lynda knows me so well ha!!! A mini schnauzer calendar and! Twinkie chan book!!!! I never bought it, I’ve been eyeing it up for 2 years! And she got it for me! Crochet abode ala mode! Love it!!!!!

It was a cracking day and so nice to spend it with my hooker friends, anyways, it’s Sunday, it’s cold outside, I’m off to carry on with my golden rod sweater!

Happy hooking!

It’s been a while!

Hello!! It has been a little while since my last blog, but I’ve been on my jollies, having some fabulous family time in the sun. Weeks running up to me going I was trying to get my day job finished, then some Crochet sanctuary stuff sorted, and designs! @lyndascraftroom and I have a few projects we are working on at the moment, including the autumn cal for Knitcraft, some bits for Marriner yarns which is exciting. You know we love Knitcraft yarns, well we also very much like Marriner. You should really take a look as they have some stunning yarns and very well priced. In fact I think they under price their yarn, which can often make people think it’s cheap or poor quality, but it’s not, they’ve got some good dk’ sand some fabulous chunky verigated yarns and beautiful cottons, have a look!

So we went to Bulgaria for 10 days, and stayed in Nessebar, I was very much hoping to find some yarn, but I did come across some ladies making a living from their crocheted items

That was all the crochet I found!! I didn’t get much done whilst I was away either, took plenty of wip but it was too hot.

Before I went away I had my granny square design released on the Hobbycraft blog

We were given a list of items to crochet using granny squares, I chose the hot water bottle, using Knitcraft in the zone, I love the bright colours and the yarn just glides over the hook, lovely stuff!

Then whilst I was away my Not so little box of crochet arrived!! My neighbour kindly took it in for me, oh wow!!!!

It’s amazing!!! It’s designed using intarsia crochet…….never tried it before, and I don’t think I will again! Thank goodness the pattern Said we could use tapestry, intarsia for me is just a mess at the back, and I wasn’t leaving a long enough piece of yarn, tapestry is much easier, I’m not posting a pic yet as I’ve only done about 6 row after frogging the intarsia! It’s beautiful though and I know Amanda still has some boxes so you should order!

We’ve only got 5 weeks until the next crochet sanctuary Yayy!!!! I’m so excited, it seems ages since the last one.

We’ve got the rather fabulous Heather from KCACOUK hosting our guest designer workshop on the Saturday afternoon, which I’m really looking forward to. And we’ve completely sold out until June 2019! What’s that about?! Who ever knew we’d sell weekends so quickly, and to think @lyndascraftroom and I were sick with nerves when we started! We do love it, and we have some amazing guests.

I’ve really missed not going to our Knitcraft social the last few weeks, so looking forward to going back on Saturday, it’ll be lovely to see everyone. Then! On Sunday @lyndascraftoom and I are off to Toft in Warwickshire, we’ve never been before, it was Lyndas birthday in July, so for her gift I booked us both in for a workshop to crochet Chablis the unicorn

Isn’t she gorgeous?! There is also an option to supersize her, so I’ll see how much it is, I’ve been a little naughty recently in terms of yarn 🙈 I can’t help myself.

I’ve still got my nameless blanket to finish, Sophie’s universe, 2 Sophie’s stools, a Mabel bunny from wool couture, primavera blanket oh jeez the list goes on and on! And now I’ve bought this!!

Couldn’t not to be honest! Sneaky little purchase while lying by the pool, ah well!! I really do nee to start concentrating on finishing some WIPs it’s starting to take over the whole house, and that’s without the crochet sanctuary deliveries. So we will see about Chablis!!

I think I’ve caught up…. oooh!!! I bought a sewing machine!! Made one bandana for the dog 😂 bought tonnes of material and tools, cutting boards, rotary cutter tailors chalk pins you know, everything I need, subscribed to sewing mags, got quite a few patterns, and I’ve done nothing….. but I will, I’m a bit scared I think! As my dad would say, ‘all the gear and no idea’

So yes I think I’ve caught up, will let you know how the toft workshop goes!!

Happy hooking

What a weekend!

We are exhausted! But it was soooo worth it! It’s been fabulous it really has.

We started at 5pm on Friday evening and each of guests received a scheepjes whirl each, we had carried out a Poll on social media a few weeks ago so that we could find out what people’s favourite colours are, and we bought the top 5 colours. We wanted to do this because so many of us, including myself have bought whirls and left them on the shelf, only to bring them down every now and again for a squish and a sniff! Because they’re so expensive!!

We had bought scheepjes whirl patterns for everyone, which I must say were a little bit of a disappointment, one lot we bought had crochet terms written on the front, but inside they were knit patterns??!?!?! Wtf?! So we couldn’t use them and luckily did check prior to handing them out, we also had the stormy day shawl patten, which is fine, but the other one we had just didn’t make any senses at all, I swear scheepjes write them in Dutch then just translate them without testing, so they will be getting some stern words from me tomorrow! The majority of us ended up c2c with our whirls which was great, I’ve never considered c2c with a whirl.

Saturday morning was just fabulous!! @lyndascraftroom and I had planned an Alice in wonderland and mad hatters tea party theme and it was amazing!!! @lyndascraftroom popped on her bunny ears and her pocket watch, we had 23 people stood outside the sanctuary door waiting for us to unlock it, but in runs Lynda shouting ‘I’m late! I’m late! For a very important date!’ I then opened the door wearing my mad hatters hat! Ha!!!

I did have to try on Lyndas bunny ears though

Anyway here’s a few pics

Lynda had gone to the effort of deco patching the sign and the bunny too!

We had created a tea party with a mixture of crocheted cakes, and real cakes, The at little box of crochet tea cups, which I love! And of course our tea pots!!

So as the guests came into the room they were each handed a gift bag, which included lots of our usual bits and bobs but it also included some gorgeous biscuits, tea from the old English tea company and of course a tea pot!

For our workshop we gave a choice of crocheting either @lyndascraftroom funky mad hatter tea pot design, or my more traditional design, or they could do both?! We used scheepjes softfun for the cosy base and then Yarn & Colors mini must haves for decorating each one.

Lyndas even had a little mad hatter hat on it with 10/6 embroidered onto it, and a tea bag hanging out, it was fabulous!!

And for left overs we had a macaroon pattern, but I don’t think anyone got that far!

In the afternoon we had Lynne Rowe from the wool nest as our guest designer, I wish I’d taken more photos but I was so wiped out after our mindfulness session! I almost fell asleep, it was very relaxing, the only thing that kept me awake was my fear of letting out a snore 😂

Lynne had an array of scrap yarn in tonnes of colours, and she created what almost looked like a colour wheel, unintentionally she said! We each had to create a card with our favourite colours and one with colours we didn’t like, it was very interesting, we then made some gorgeous mini mandalas, it really was a very useful workshop.

In the evening we carried on with our teapot cosies and our whirls which was lovely

And today, again everyone had a choice to carry on with their whirls or tea cosies, or, they could have a go at crocheting with raffia yarn, which I rather like using, it’s not quite as harsh on your hands as you think!

Anyway, it’s been a fabulous weekend, I’m pooped!

Happy hooking

Women’s institute Crochet Dress Knitcraft

Well it’s the first dress I’ve ever made! Our Abby spotted the pattern last week in Hobbycraft and chose the yarn colour, the pattern is so well written and easy to follow. The repeats are nice and easy too so much so you don’t need the pattern after the first few repeats. And with the recommended yarn being WI home cotton it really works up quick too!

The only downside, and this is just me! But the only downside is it has to be sewn together, and I didn’t have @lyndascraftroom to off load my sewing onto last night, so roped my mother in law in! Ha! It’s cost me another dress though!

Anyway it fits her perfectly, the yarn is on 3 for 2 aswell so £8 in total for a dress and I had a ball left over, bonus!

Even managed to pop one of my tags on too

So I’m no onto my second!!

In WI home cotton hot pink! I love it! Might even do one for myself!

Anyway, £8 well worth it! They’ve got it in paper copy or Digital

@lyndascraftroom and I have been busy planning our next CAL!! Autumn…..can’t believe it’s coming around so quickly!

The next The Crochet Sanctuary is only 7 days away!!! Literally bursting with excitement for this one, we’ve a fabulous theme and we can’t wait to meet lots of new people. All of our stock has been delivered, and we’ve a few more exciting things in the pipeline but we can’t say anything just yet!

So before I spill happy hooking!!

Lisa xx

Knitcraft Spring CAL!

Well, well, well 30th March it is! The spring CAL will be our 3rd CAL with Knitcraft and we really do enjoy doing them. We’re so proud of this one, it really does say spring! Cannot wait to share pictures of it. The yarn bundles will go on sale on the hobbycraft website next week, if you do fancy buying it online use the link on the side of this blog I might make a penny or two!!

Now that it’s finished and been sent to Knitcraft HQ for testing it’s been odd to have a some time to crochet, you think I’d concentrate on finishing some WIP but I haven’t, we’ve been designing things for The April Crochet Sanctuary we’ve got some amazing things planned for our guests, it’s so exciting, we have people coming from all over the country, even someone from Germany!!!

One thing I have crocheted and can share is the Zeens and Rogers Easter egg, I need to make another really, but enjoyed it and the WI yarn was lovely to use. There’s a lot to be said about my embroidery skills though, or lack of!!

The pattern is free and can be made in any yarn, so I’m definitely gong to make more!

I’ve also managed to get half of my Embrace shawl by Little box of crochet not so little box!! Some may think its expensive, it’s more self indulgent, but we all deserve it right?! The yarn is amazing!!!! The colourway is stunning

Now we’ve also given a room at The Crochet Sanctuary to Little Box if Crochet for them to run a prize draw, so for every person that has bought the Not so little box, their name will be entered into a draw to win and entire weekend! Not bad!! Plus they would get to sit in on Amanda’s workshop on the Saturday afternoon, so this is open to anyone! But the box get entered, even if you don’t win the box is worth every single penny.

Now recently our little Knitcraft social has become not so little too!! Our table is now full plus and extended table! We’ve got so many regulars now it’s fabulous!

Today we had someone new join, Mike, I don’t know about you but there is something lovely about a guy that crochets, even more so his work! Check this out!!

A huge crocodile stitch blanket!! Mikes been crocheting for about 12 years, I personally think it’s fab!

I’ve also been working on my Coastal crochet seaside stash buster and thoroughly enjoying it!! I’ve not completed fridays yet but I’ll crack on with that tomorrow.

Also this morning I was sooooo chuffed. Christmas 2016 my next door neighbour who has 4 gorgeous girls asked me (a week before Christmas) if I could crochet 4 mermaid tails, I said yes, and finished the last one 03:00 Christmas morning. Well the youngest of her daughters has been dragging her tail around with her everywhere, it’s a real comfort to her, which I wasn’t aware of, so this morning they popped into hobbycraft to see if I could stitch the tail back on as not surprisingly after 15 months it’s showing some wear. But I was so pleased that something I have crocheted has been loved so much!! I mended it as best I could, but I am going to make her another and see if she’ll replace it. But she also mentioned that she has two reborn dolls, and one day maybe I could make a cardigan for her. So I’ve grabbed some of my hayfield blossom, which I’ve been itching to use and I’ve whipped up a quick set for her in a couple of hours, the yarn is so cute!! It’s not perfect but I’m sure she’ll appreciate it

I think that’s about it……other than we still have a couple of rooms left for April, which obviously need booking! June’s is 50% booked, September 75% booked and November is surprisingly 50% booked too!!!

I think that’s all for now

Happy Hooking 😘

A wee update

Our deadline for the spring CAL looms at the end of this week, so as per usual @lyndascraftoom and I have been hooking none stop!! It’s so worth it though because it looks stunning, and we’re rather proud! But I can’t show you! Not yet anyway.

It’s amazing when we look back at Tea on the green, and then to this CAL just how far we’ve come, even if I do say so myself, we were ahead of schedule and then for slightly off track, only slightly, the CAL has now gone to Lynda for her unusual fabulous finish and then back to me for the border, but it means I can catch up and sort out designs for the next Crochet Sanctuary which is on 20th April until 22nd, so literally 8 weeks away. We’ve had so many messages about other dates, we were trying to wait until we’d sold out on the next date before releasing the rest but we’ve given up and released all dates now, so we have April, June, September and November.

So first on my list was to catch up on Coastal crochet seaside stash buster CAL I’m really enjoying this, there is absolutely no pressure at all. And I have to admit blues and greens aren’t really my favourite colours so I seem to have a large amount of it in my stash which means I really can make mine look rather coastal, I’m really pleased with it

Just 4 rows a week, and the patterns are nice and easy to follow, I’m enjoying the process and I know it’s going to be a long CAL but I’m also rather excited to see the finished result too.

I’ve also been teaching my 14 year old daughter to crochet! We spend a lot of time together and she comes to our Knitcraft social most weeks, and I kind of felt guilty that she couldn’t come on the last Sanctuary but she couldn’t crochet and of course it’s a lot of money to pay for her to be bored all weekend, so she has been nagging me if she can come to April, the deal was that if she can crochet she can come, so this happened!

She crocheted her first granny square! Ok so she’s not quite for the bug and I don’t want to force it on her but I couldn’t help but take her to Blacksheep wools on Sunday, she bought herself a yarn cake and a tulip hook

The chunky blossom is mine though!! And guess what? She completely unravelled her cake and decided she couldn’t do it 🙄🙄 do I’ll leave her for a bit and then give her a gentle reminder!

So! While I’m here! We’ve sold out of all day passes for April, but we have got some rooms left for weekend bookings. It is going to be fab, each weekender will receive a fabulous Sophie’s stool!!!

We will work through a number of workshops, using some stunning yarns, three bears yarn, scheepjes and hopefully some hoooked or some Knitcraft Home cotton, all with a spring feel! Our workshops will also be including the very fabulous Amanda Bloom from Little box of crochet

Amanda has a fab workshop planned and no doubt with some amazing yarn!!

So if you do want to book click Here it is just a £50 deposit

Taking of little box of crochet, I was very naughty and bought myself the Not so little box of crochet…..oh wow, just wow!

Well!!! I couldn’t not could I?! So I’ll soon be getting started!!! Once the CAL has been sent and I can concentrate anyway!

Best got to bed now really

Happy hooking xx
